Gold-Bug Cipher

I was taking a closer look at an image from Machine1337, which was of a hooded figure and checked it for hidden messages, and found what look like symbols and gibberish that was identified as a Gold-Bug cipher, which has a lot to do with Edgar Allan Poe and the key to finding a treasure that helps you decipher the code, but I also think it's an old hackers trick?
