In 1770 a mechanical contraption called the Mechanical Turk was designed to fool its opponents into believing it could play chess like most chess playing computers today, only it was controlled by someone concealed beneath it, but this is what I think sparked the idea behind artificial intelligence?
One of the first computers that I played at chess was called Scanner, but I was still learning then.
